Hitlon Boston Park Plaza

So... I was going to Boston because I had some meetings with some people about some things. Yes, very very specific, I know. People from my drinking flying group. My bag didn't even get loaded in Minneapolis, so I spent half the day replacing everything I needed for that evening (bag showed up long after I left for the engagement). Anyways, I wanted something reasonable, something classic, and something in a well-placed area.

That ended up with me finding, and choosing, the Hitlon Park Plaza, just off the Boston Commons, in between Back Bay and Chinatown. Well placed for my mostly walking around style.

Arrival

Well, let's see, what did I do? Um. I had just my carry on (thanks AA...) and I got a cab, because just... screw it trying to take the connector bus to the subway to *near* the hotel as the close ones were closed, ugh. Yeah, Taxi was the ticket. It's about 30 minutes from the airport to the hotel because even with all the Big Dig work done, traffic is still hell in Boston.

Anyways, the front desk has really competent and engaging employees. They did a great job and $uite deal on my room upgrade.

The Room

A full suite, yes sirree Bob! I paid for it, but as a paid upgrade it wasn't too much.
3D interactive room tour, use your mouse or fingers to move around and see other rooms.
Floormap The Rob floorplan which can bring you directly to a position in the room for the tour above.

Dining

Off Common (as this is just half a block off Boston Common) is the bar and restaurant

Amenities

So many amenities! A private health club (so I couldn't take pics... woe for Rob), an arcade of shops, which is so old school! An unbelievable ballroom. Excellent work/seating areas.
Biggest room on the page Nice coffee. Helped on that night we had a major issue at work and I was up late, working remote The bar, very well attended, awesome bartenders My first drink was an excellent old fashioned Delicious wings, which is my primary weakness (among many) The long view Here is the breakfast menu So seating is a bit disjointed, but there was ample available when I arrived Well, of course, I love showcasing a kickass buffet Real sausage and pretender sausage Waffle bits, very popular French toast chunks, wasn't in the mood I will not say how many of these made it home with me Bleu cheese and cold cuts, num Custom order on my last day of pancakes Yes, this is still serviced as confirmed by the concierge Sundries shop! Fully ass stocked with all the things This area has a name, but I forgot so I'll call it The Front The woodwork is amazing It was Christmas time, so pretty tree Now as you may have noticed I stopped taking pictures of event spaces, but I had to make an exception Just look at this place!

Summary

One of the great old hotels still in existence. A classic legendary ballroom that has to be seen to be believed. Amazing bar. Yes, it's got 1920s rooms, but I loved mine.

True litmus test of a property though, Rob would stay here again.
